Tuning what you hear from ConKarma
ConKarma sends notifications across nine user-facing categories. Most are fully muteable. A few — anything tied to account security or active billing — stay on so you don't miss something time-critical. Path: Settings → Notifications.
ConKarma groups everything it might tell you into eight notification categories, and you can tune them under Settings → Notifications. Six of them — missions and duty reminders, streak status, cell activity, mentions and gifts, parent-approval requests, and product updates — can be fully muted across push, in-app banner, and email. Two categories stay on: account security (login alerts, password changes, two-factor) and payment and billing (receipts, failed payments, subscription changes). You can shift those between push and email, but they will always reach you somewhere so you never miss a security-critical or money-critical event.
Each category has independent toggles per channel, plus quiet hours and per-Cell muting if you belong to more than one Cell.
The nine categories
Account security, payment & billing, mission & duty reminders, streak status, cell activity, mentions & gifts, parent-approval requests, and product updates. Each has independent toggles for push, in-app banner, and email — you can keep email on while muting push, for example.
Locked-on categories
Account security (login alerts, password changes, two-factor) and payment & billing (receipts, failed payments, subscription state changes) cannot be fully muted. You can shift them between push and email, but they will reach you somewhere. This protects you from missing security-critical or money-critical events. New-device sign-in alerts (every previously-unseen device that accesses your account) and unknown-country sign-in alerts also live in this locked-on bucket — they’re the security signal we won’t let users silence. If you have under-18 cell members, the parent-on-kid new-device alert is the same kind of locked-on signal: the parent-role members of the kid’s cell get notified of new-device sign-ins on the kid’s account.
Mutable categories
The other six — missions, streaks, cell activity, mentions, parent approvals, product updates — can be fully muted across all three channels (push, in-app, email). Most users mute product updates first, then trim cell activity if their Cell is busy.
Quiet hours
Settings → Notifications → Quiet hours sets a do-not-disturb window. During quiet hours, push is held; the next non-quiet moment delivers a single digest instead of a flood. Account-security and payment alerts ignore quiet hours by design.
Email preferences split
Email is split into transactional (receipts, security alerts, parent-approval requests) and marketing (product updates, occasional surveys). The two are tracked separately — declining marketing email keeps transactional email working. You can decline both from inside the app or from any email's footer.
Per-Cell muting
Mentions & gifts and cell activity also support per-Cell muting if you belong to more than one Cell. Settings → Notifications → Per Cell. Useful if one Cell is busier than another and you want different cadence per circle.
Web notifications
On the web companion, push uses the browser's standard notification permission. Same per-category rules apply once granted. Email and in-app banner work the same on web as on mobile.
Frequently asked questions
How do I stop ConKarma from sending me so many notifications?
Go to Settings → Notifications and mute any of the seven mutable categories across push, in-app, and email. Most people start by muting product updates, then trim cell activity if their Cell is busy.
Can I turn off security alerts too?
No. Account security and payment alerts can't be fully muted because they protect you from missing a security-critical or money-critical event. You can move them between push and email, but they'll always reach you somewhere.
Will quiet hours hold back everything?
Quiet hours hold push and deliver a single digest at the next non-quiet moment, but account-security and payment alerts ignore quiet hours by design. Set the window under Settings → Notifications → Quiet hours.
If I decline marketing email, do I lose receipts and security emails?
No. Email is split into transactional (receipts, security alerts, parent-approval requests) and marketing (product updates, surveys), and the two are tracked separately. Declining marketing keeps transactional email working.
