For parents

Built for families, not advertisers.

ConKarma was built so kids can grow good habits inside a private circle of people who actually love them — not feeds, not strangers, not data brokers. Here's exactly how we treat your child's account.

Private by design — never sold

We don't sell personal information. We don't share for cross-context behavioural advertising. Child accounts never see ads. The Cell — the family unit at the heart of the app — is closed by default: no public profiles, no feeds, no strangers. The full disclosure lives in the Privacy Policy, but the short version is: what your kid shares with their family stays with their family.

  • No selling data — never to brokers, never to model trainers.
  • No ads on child accounts — ever, regardless of subscription tier.
  • No public profiles — your kid is not discoverable on the internet through ConKarma.
  • No cross-context behavioural targeting — the standard CCPA / CPRA carve-out applies.

Age-aware UI — adult content stays off-limits

Adult features (the couples surface, intimate journals, anything 18+) are gated by the verified age tier on the account. There is no "are you over 18?" toggle a kid can click through. The screen-guard ensures adult content cannot appear on a child account, on a teen account, or even on an adult account that hasn't completed the in-app age confirmation. If a parent and a child share a device, switching to the child profile collapses the entire app to the age-appropriate surfaces.

Approve before they buy

Anything that involves money goes through you first.

  • In-app purchases (subscriptions, cosmetics, habit packs) require parent approval before the platform processes the charge — Apple's Ask to Buy and the equivalent Google Play family-approval gate are honoured.

Emergency-checkin location — opt-in, parent-granted

Cells include an opt-in "emergency check-in" surface — your kid taps a button to send "I'm safe" or "I need help" to the rest of the cell. Latitude and longitude are never collected by default. Here's the shape if you want to enable optional location sharing on those check-ins:

  • Two switches must both be on: a standing consent you grant in Settings → Emergency, and a per-check-in toggle your child taps for that specific alert. The app does not track location in the background.
  • Coordinates are visible only to other members of the same Cell, attached only to the specific check-in they were sent with.
  • Per-jurisdiction retention: US / Australia / Rest of world — 30 days; California — 14 days; Canada / Quebec / EEA / UK — 7 days. After that the coordinates are auto-deleted; the "safe" or "need help" record itself stays without location.
  • Revoking standing consent in Settings deletes any coordinates we still hold within minutes. You can revoke at any time.

Review, revoke, delete — anytime

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • Show you exactly what we hold about your child's account.
  • Stop further collection of your child's information.
  • Delete the account and the data, with the standard 30-day grace window.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.

Most of these are also available from inside the app under Settings → Child Accounts. The email path exists for when you can't (or don't want to) use the in-app controls.

Talk to a human

For any question about your child's account or a pending consent request, email parents@conkarma.app. This inbox is monitored — it's the address baked into the COPPA consent emails the backend sends, so you'll see it again if you ever get one.
