Set up ConKarma with Amazon Alexa
ConKarma ships an Alexa skill that exposes the same small set of voice intents as the Siri + Google Assistant integration — grocery add, calendar query, Important Dates brief, daily-question audio answer, journal voice entry. Useful on Echo devices in the kitchen, the living room, or the bedside. Phase 1: English only.
Setting up ConKarma with Amazon Alexa adds a skill that exposes the same five voice intents as the Siri and Google Assistant integrations — grocery add, calendar query, Important Dates brief, daily-question audio answer, and journal voice entry — on Echo devices in your kitchen, living room, or bedside. To enable it, open the Alexa app → More → Skills & Games, search "ConKarma," tap Enable, then Link Account and sign in once. The link persists across all Echo devices on your Amazon account.
Phase 1 is English only. Voice audio is captured and transcribed by Amazon; the skill webhook receives only the transcribed intent text, never raw audio. Once text reaches ConKarma it stays cell-private, encrypted at rest, and is never read by an AI on our side.
One-time account linking
Open the Alexa app → More → Skills & Games → search "ConKarma" → Enable. Tap Link Account. The Alexa app opens a ConKarma sign-in page in a browser; sign in once. The link persists across all Echo devices on the Amazon account.
What works
Same five intents as the Siri integration. "Alexa, ask ConKarma to add milk to the grocery list." "Alexa, ask ConKarma what's on the family calendar today." "Alexa, ask ConKarma for today's question." "Alexa, journal in ConKarma." "Alexa, ask ConKarma what's coming up in Important Dates."
Privacy posture
Voice audio is captured by Amazon Alexa and transcribed by Amazon's pipeline. The Alexa skill webhook (/webhooks/alexa per) receives the transcribed intent text, not raw audio. ConKarma never receives the audio itself. Amazon's privacy posture for Alexa data is documented at amazon.com/alexaprivacy. Once the text reaches ConKarma, it follows the same posture as the typed equivalent — cell-private, encrypted at rest, never read by an AI on our side.
Multi-cell households
The Alexa account links to the ConKarma account that signed in during setup. For sandwich-gen members (multiple cells), the default cell is the one most recently active. To target a specific cell: "Alexa, ask ConKarma to add milk to the family list" using the cell label you set.
Troubleshooting
If the skill stops responding: Alexa app → Skills & Games → ConKarma → Disable → Enable. Re-link if prompted. If voice phrases aren't recognised, check that the Alexa language matches the ConKarma account language (EN only at Phase 1). Unrecognised intents fall through to Alexa's default "I don't know that one" response, not a silent failure.
Disabling
Alexa app → Skills & Games → ConKarma → Disable. The skill stops responding immediately; the underlying ConKarma account is unaffected. To revoke the account link, the same Disable action removes it. Data the skill already captured stays in your ConKarma account — use the existing data-export or delete-account flows to remove it.
