If you stop paying, you keep what you built.
Cancel, pause, or let a payment fail — nothing your cell has already made is deleted, hidden, or taken back. Here is exactly what changes and what doesn't.
If a ConKarma subscription is cancelled, paused, or lapses because a payment failed, nothing the cell has already created is deleted, hidden, or taken back. Access runs to the end of the paid period, and when a renewal payment fails access deliberately stays on while the store retries. Cell members, duties, missions, rules, rewards, journals, Annals, cosmetics, and Sparks and DNA balances all stay.
The free-tier limits are enforced when something is created or someone joins — never retroactively — so a cell that grew past a free limit on a paid plan keeps everything it built, and the limit only holds the next addition until you are back under it or back on a plan. Pausing for one to three months, once in a 12-month window, is the alternative to cancelling.
When a subscription ends
Cancelling never cuts you off mid-period. The subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and then simply doesn't renew. At that boundary, subscription-only features go back to their free state. Cancelling happens where you pay — Apple or Google — and /help/subscription-cancel has the exact path for each.
A failed payment is not an ending
If a renewal payment fails, the store retries it, and during that retry window your access deliberately stays on. We don't lock a cell the moment a card bounces. How long the window lasts is Apple's or Google's decision: we act on what the store tells us and never guess a date. If the store gives up and suspends the subscription, subscription-only features return to their free state — and everything below still holds.
Nothing you made is deleted, hidden, or taken back
Members stay in the cell. Duties, missions, rules, rewards and challenges stay. Journals, Annals, photos and cosmetics stay. Sparks and DNA balances stay. There is no sweep that runs when a subscription lapses and takes back what you built over a paid year — that behaviour does not exist in our code, and this page is us saying so in public.
Free limits apply to the next thing you add
The free-tier limits are checked when something is created or when someone joins — never afterwards. A family cell with eight members keeps its eight members after the plan lapses; what the limit does is hold the ninth join until a seat frees up or someone subscribes again. The same goes for duties, missions, rules and rewards: what exists stays, and adding more waits until you are back under the free limit or back on a plan.
Pause instead, if it's a timing problem
If this is about money this month rather than not-for-us, you can pause for one, two or three months from Settings → Subscription instead of cancelling. It resumes on the date you picked, not on a quiet renewal, and you can still cancel during a pause. A pause is available once in a 12-month window and needs an active subscription to start.
Family plans and who pays
A family plan's extra seats belong to the cell, not to one person's account: the cell keeps them as long as someone in it is on a family plan. If the person paying stops, another member can take the plan over and the seats continue. The cell is never broken up, and nobody is removed while you sort it out.
Frequently asked questions
Will anything be deleted if I stop paying?
No. Nothing you have created is deleted, hidden, or taken back when a subscription ends — not cell members, not duties or missions, not journals or Annals, not cosmetics, and not your Sparks or DNA balances. Subscription-only features return to their free state; what you made stays.
My payment failed. Have I lost access?
Not while the store is retrying. A failed renewal opens a retry window, and your access deliberately stays on for it. The length is Apple's or Google's call — we act only on what the store tells us and never guess a date. If the store suspends the subscription, subscription-only features go back to free, and everything you created still stays.
My cell has more members than the free plan allows. What happens when the plan ends?
Everyone stays. The member limit is checked when someone joins, not afterwards, so an eight-member cell stays an eight-member cell. The limit only holds the next person joining, until a seat frees up or someone subscribes again.
Is pausing better than cancelling?
If the reason is timing, yes: a pause of one, two or three months keeps everything in place and resumes on the date you choose, and you can still cancel during it. It's available once in a 12-month window and needs an active subscription to start. If you're done, cancelling takes nothing away from you either.
