Streaks — how they work and how to keep them.
Streaks are the daily-rhythm signal: each consecutive day you complete a habit, the streak counter goes up. Long streaks unlock cosmetics and DNA bonuses, but the design intent is encouragement, not coercion.
A streak is ConKarma's daily-rhythm signal: each consecutive day you complete a scheduled habit, the streak counter goes up, and long streaks unlock cosmetics and DNA bonuses. The design intent is encouragement, not coercion — streaks never punish absence. Completing a habit counts when you mark it done on its scheduled day, with a small grace buffer before local midnight so an 11:55 pm check-in still counts.
You earn streak freezes passively as streaks grow, and a freeze auto-applies to cover one missed day. A streak only breaks after two consecutive missed days with no available freezes, and you're warned on the second morning so a check-in that day saves it. When a streak breaks, the counter resets but the history is kept.
What counts
Marking a habit done on the day it's scheduled. The day window is local-time + a small grace buffer before midnight, so a quick check-in at 11:55 pm still counts. Marking a habit done in the past does not.
Streak freezes
You earn streak freezes passively as you build long streaks. A freeze covers one missed day without breaking the streak. Settings → Streaks shows your freeze balance. Freezes auto-apply when a day is missed — no need to remember in the moment.
What breaks a streak
Two consecutive missed days with no available freezes. We tell you on the second-day morning that the streak is at risk; if you check in that day, you save it. We don't break streaks for travel-related time-zone shifts up to a few hours.
Re-igniting a broken streak
When a streak breaks, the counter resets. The history is kept — you'll see your previous best in the streak detail. Most of our long-term users say the second streak hits faster than the first.
Why we don't use loss aversion
Some habit apps treat broken streaks as guilt-tripping. We don't. The freeze system, the grace buffer, the lack of red-X notifications — all deliberate. The point is the habit, not the counter.
Frequently asked questions
What actually breaks a streak?
Two consecutive missed days with no available freezes breaks a streak. We warn you on the second-day morning, so checking in that day saves it, and we don't break streaks for travel-related time-zone shifts of a few hours.
What are streak freezes and how do I get them?
Freezes are earned passively as you build long streaks, and each one covers a single missed day without breaking the streak. They auto-apply when a day is missed, and Settings → Streaks shows your freeze balance.
Does a late-night check-in still count?
Yes. The day window is local-time plus a small grace buffer before midnight, so a quick check-in at 11:55 pm still counts. Marking a habit done in the past does not count.
What happens after a streak breaks — do I lose my history?
The counter resets, but your history is kept and you'll see your previous best in the streak detail. We deliberately avoid guilt-tripping or red-X notifications — the point is the habit, not the counter.
