A shield bank that protects streaks across legitimate off days
Each cell member earns a small bank of shields by sustained activity. Miss a day, a shield absorbs the miss — the streak holds. Shields can't be bought; they have to be earned.
Streak shields are a small bank of earned protections that hold your streak through a legitimate off day. When you miss a day on a duty, the streak system checks for an available shield, and if one exists and the duty supports shielding, the streak holds and the shield is consumed. The next-day view shows the consumption transparently, so you see what was protected and what it cost.
Shields can't be bought — not with DNA, EGO, or real money — they have to be earned through a sustained run of completed days. The bank is capped so a long streak doesn't build a runaway reserve. Safety-critical duties like medication adherence are explicitly non-shieldable and carry a badge so the cell knows the streak is the honest count.
How shields accrue
After a sustained run of completed days on a duty (the exact threshold varies per duty type), a shield enters your bank. The bank is capped, so a long streak doesn't generate a runaway shield reserve. Shields aren't purchasable with DNA, EGO, or real money.

Opting out
Cell-owner: Settings → Cell → Streak shields → off. Per-member: Profile → Streaks → Use shields → off. The streak then runs strictly — a missed day breaks it.
