Two-way sync with Apple, Google, and Outlook calendars
ConKarma now does bi-directional sync with your platform calendar via EventKit (iOS / macOS) and CalendarContract (Android), in addition to the existing read-only iCal subscription. Pick the right one for your setup.
ConKarma offers two ways to connect your calendar. The simpler one is a read-only iCal subscription: ConKarma events appear in Apple, Google, or Outlook calendars, but edits there don't reach back — paste the Subscribe URL from Settings → Calendar. The newer option is two-way sync via EventKit on iOS/macOS and CalendarContract on Android: edits you make in your platform calendar (moving an event, changing the end time, deleting) propagate back into ConKarma. Two-way sync requires granting calendar permission once, and you pick a single target calendar so ConKarma never touches calendars you didn't choose.
You can use both at once — read-only iCal for visibility in one app, two-way sync for editing in another.
iCal subscription (the simpler option)
One-way: ConKarma events appear in your platform calendar but edits there don't reach back. Best for people who don't want to grant ConKarma calendar permission, or who want a quick share to a household calendar. Settings → Calendar → Subscribe URL → paste into Google / Outlook / Apple Calendar.
Two-way EventKit / CalendarContract sync
Bi-directional: edits made in your platform calendar (move an event, change end time, delete) propagate back into ConKarma. Requires granting calendar permission once. Pick a target calendar in your platform calendar app (e.g. 'Family' calendar in Apple Calendar) — only that calendar is read-write. ConKarma never touches calendars you didn't pick.
Which to pick
If only one parent uses ConKarma but the household runs on a shared Apple Family calendar — use two-way sync. If everyone uses ConKarma already and just wants a backup view in Outlook — iCal subscription is enough. You can use both at once: read-only iCal in Outlook for visibility, two-way sync in Apple Calendar for editing.
Privacy of synced data
Two-way sync writes ConKarma event titles, times, and descriptions into the platform calendar. RSVP status, attendee names, and Cell membership do not sync — those stay inside ConKarma. If you delete the calendar permission later, ConKarma stops writing immediately and removes already-written events on your next open.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the iCal subscription and two-way sync?
The iCal subscription is one-way — ConKarma events show in your calendar but edits don't reach back, and it needs no calendar permission. Two-way sync (EventKit / CalendarContract) propagates edits both directions but requires granting permission once.
Which one should I pick?
If your household runs on a shared Apple Family calendar and only one parent uses ConKarma, choose two-way sync. If everyone already uses ConKarma and just wants a backup view in Outlook, the iCal subscription is enough — and you can use both at once.
Will two-way sync touch all my calendars?
No. You pick one target calendar in your platform calendar app, and only that calendar is read-write. ConKarma never touches calendars you didn't pick.
What gets written into my calendar, and is it private?
Two-way sync writes ConKarma event titles, times, and descriptions only. RSVP status, attendee names, and Cell membership stay inside ConKarma. If you remove calendar permission later, ConKarma stops writing and removes already-written events on your next open.
