Biometric re-prompt on inactivity
Once you unlock the adult zone with biometric, the latch isn't permanent. After 5 minutes of inactivity inside Ember, or 30 seconds of the app being backgrounded, the latch drops and you have to re-prompt. Both budgets are configurable, but the defaults are tight on purpose.
After you unlock the adult zone with biometric, the unlock isn't permanent — ConKarma re-prompts for biometric after 5 minutes of inactivity inside Ember or after the app has been backgrounded for 30 seconds. This keeps an unattended phone from staying open: if you set it down, the inactivity timer re-locks it quickly, and if you switch to another app for half a minute, switching back requires biometric again. Both timers reset on every interaction or every return to the foreground inside Ember.
Both budgets are configurable under Settings → Privacy → Adult zone → Inactivity timing, but the defaults are tight on purpose. The biometric requirement to enter Ember from outside never times out.
Why this matters
If the latch never expired, leaving your unlocked phone on a desk would mean anyone who picked it up could enter the adult zone without biometric. The inactivity timer means an unattended phone re-locks fast. The background timer means switching to another app for 30 seconds is enough to drop the latch — so app-switching back to Ember requires biometric again.
Default budgets
Inactivity (foreground): 5 minutes of no taps / scrolls / interactions inside an Ember route. Background: 30 seconds of the app sitting in background (incoming calls, switching apps, locking screen). Both reset on every interaction or every return to foreground inside Ember.
How to extend or tighten
Settings → Privacy → Adult zone → Inactivity timing. You can pick from: 30 sec, 1 min, 2 min, 5 min (default), 10 min, 15 min for inactivity; 5 sec, 15 sec, 30 sec (default), 1 min, 2 min for background. Tightening to the minimums is reasonable on a shared device; the maximums are for solo-use convenience.
What never times out
The biometric requirement to ENTER Ember from outside is constant — it doesn't have a 'remember me' option. The timer only governs how long the in-Ember session stays unlocked. Crossing back to Serene also drops the latch immediately.
