Your Base — tell us what you want; we'll never push.
Your Base is your personal widget board on your home, lock, and watch screen — the personal-assistant home that's just yours. (The cell's shared household hub is the Wall; your Base is the per-person surface.) It's per-zone (Serene and Ember are separate Bases), persona-aware on first run, kid-safe-filtered for under-13 accounts, and you decide what's there. This article explains the customization options and the limits we deliberately don't cross.

It's per-zone — the Serene and Ember Bases are independent, and main-app sessions never see Ember widgets — with persona-aware starter defaults on first run and a parent-supervised catalog for under-13 accounts.
The first-run layout reflects the persona you picked in onboarding, but every widget is removable, replaceable, or repositionable, and changing your persona later re-suggests defaults without silently rewriting your Base. One safety/escalation strip — Worry Box, trusted-adult routing, helpline links — can't be hidden, even by you; that's structural, not a setting. There are no customization metrics, no suggestion notifications, and no cell-mate can force-set another adult's Base. Discovery is pull-only.
Per-zone, your widgets
The Serene Base and the Ember Base are independent. Main-app sessions never see Ember widgets; the zone-isolation invariant from /promises holds at the Base surface too. Each Base takes its own widget catalog and its own layout.
Persona-aware starter defaults
The first-run Base reflects the persona you picked in onboarding (parent, partner, sandwich-generation, etc.). The defaults are a starting point, not a verdict — every widget is removable, replaceable, or repositionable from Settings. Changing your persona later re-suggests defaults but never silently rewrites your existing Base.
The non-hideable safety strip
One strip on your Base is the safety/escalation surface — Worry Box, trusted-adult routing, helpline links. It cannot be hidden, even by you. This is structural, not a setting: the safety strip is the backstop the app never asks you to opt out of.
Kid-safe filtered catalog
Under-13 accounts see a parent-supervised widget catalog. Specific widgets a parent approves are added; the rest stay invisible. The kid customizes within the approved set; the parent reviews additions from their account. COPPA-aligned per /privacy §3.
What we deliberately don't do
No engagement metrics on customization (no completion score, no streak, no count of widgets added). No push notifications for widget suggestions. No escalating cadence on prompts. No per-user 'feature adoption' or 'Base fitness' score. No cell-mate can force-set another adult's Base — your Base is yours. Pull discovery only — What's Brewing surfaces are browsable when you go look, never pushed at you.
