Help · Sparks
Requesting more Sparks from your cell.
When the cell's Sparks pool is running low, you can send a quiet request to any cell member to top it up. We designed the flow to be the opposite of FOMO.
When your cell's Sparks pool is running low, you can send a quiet request to a specific cell member to top it up — deliberately designed to be the opposite of FOMO. Any cell member can send one, kids included; there's no minimum age, balance threshold, or payer-only restriction. The request is a small in-app prompt to one person, not a cell-wide broadcast or a notification storm.
The recipient sees a quiet in-app card the next time they open ConKarma — no push notification, no countdown, no social-pressure framing. It shows who's asking, the rough need, and three options: top up, decline, or mute future requests from that sender. A silent decline shows the sender only "no answer yet," never a hard no. Per-sender weekly rate limits prevent spam, and cells can turn the whole feature off.
Who can send a request
Any cell member can send a request — kids included. There's no minimum age, no balance threshold, no payer-only restriction. The request is a small in-app prompt to a specific cell member, not a cell-wide broadcast and not an automatic notification storm.
How the request is delivered
The recipient sees a quiet in-app card the next time they open ConKarma. There's no push notification, no countdown timer, and no social-pressure framing like "others are about to ask". The card shows who's asking, the rough need (e.g. a portrait pack, a coach session), and three buttons: top up, decline, mute future requests from this sender.
Silent decline is a first-class option
If the recipient picks decline, the sender does not see a hard "no" — they see "no answer yet". This is deliberate. The flow should never become a social-pressure point inside the cell; a quiet "not now" feels much safer than a public refusal.
Per-sender rate limit + recipient mute
Each sender has a per-week rate limit, so a kid can't spam the cell. Recipients can mute requests from any sender at any time from the same in-app card — the muted sender's future requests are silently dropped without a notification.
Cells can turn the whole feature off
If a cell prefers not to surface requests at all, the feature can be disabled cell-wide from Settings → Sparks → Cell Sparks Request → Off. Disabling it doesn't affect the pool itself; only the request flow. Cells with no opt-in adults can leave it off entirely.
Frequently asked questions
Who can ask for more Sparks?
Any cell member can, including kids — there's no minimum age, no balance threshold, and no payer-only restriction. The request goes to one specific cell member as a small in-app prompt, not a cell-wide broadcast.
Will a Sparks request push-notify or pressure the recipient?
No. The recipient sees a quiet in-app card the next time they open ConKarma, with no push notification, no countdown timer, and no social-pressure framing. The card just shows who's asking, the rough need, and buttons to top up, decline, or mute.
What does the sender see if I decline?
Only "no answer yet" — never a hard "no." This is deliberate, so the flow never becomes a social-pressure point inside the cell. A quiet "not now" feels much safer than a public refusal.
Can we turn Sparks requests off entirely?
Yes. A cell can disable the request flow cell-wide from Settings, Sparks, Cell Sparks Request, Off. That only turns off the request flow — it doesn't affect the pool itself. You can also mute requests from any individual sender at any time.
