Accessibility and mobility.
ConKarma adapts Workshop, Spotlights, Themed Nights, Joysticks, Hearths, Lottery, Wishbook, Cell Sparks, and the Family Coach AI to the accessibility needs your cell declares — without requesting accommodations on your behalf. This article covers what we adapt, how cell composition factors in, sitter/coach/teacher brief surfacing, and what we deliberately are not.
ConKarma adapts its activities — Workshop, Themed Nights, Joysticks, Lottery, Wishbook, the Family Coach AI, and more — to the accessibility needs your cell declares, factoring in mobility, sensory, and processing considerations. A Themed Night with a long walk won't surface for a cell with a wheelchair user unless explicitly added, and Workshop promotes tactile alternatives when low vision is declared.
When any cell-mate has a declared consideration, the cell defaults respect it, and guest or sitter briefs surface relevant adaptations in plain language — the practical adaptation, not the underlying medical reason. Declining to state is a real, equal option, and the app never lists you as needing accommodation without your declaration. ConKarma is not a medical device, doesn't auto-detect disability, and never shares accessibility data with insurers or employers.
What we adapt
Activity recommendations factor in mobility, sensory, and processing needs the cell has declared. A Themed Night with a long walk doesn’t surface for a cell with a wheelchair user unless explicitly added. Workshop options promote tactile alternatives when vision is declared as low. Family Coach AI prompts use the communication-style preferences captured in /help/communication-style.
Cell composition
When any cell-mate has a declared accessibility consideration, the cell defaults respect it. If a guest visit is set up with a trusted-cell extension, the visitor brief surfaces relevant adaptations (no flashing lights for a photosensitive cell-mate; ramp-only for a wheelchair user).
Decline to state
Choosing “prefer not to say” is a real, equal option. Many adults keep accessibility status private from cell-mates; that’s supported. The platform never lists you as needing accommodation without your declaration.
Brief surfacing for sitters, coaches, teachers
When a sitter, family coach, or invited teacher needs context, the brief surfaces the cell’s declared accommodations in plain language — not the underlying medical reason, just the practical adaptation. The cell-member can override what’s shared on each brief.
What we deliberately are not
We are not a medical device, not a clinical assessment tool, not an accommodation-request system on your behalf (you remain in charge of any external requests). We do not auto-detect disability from photo or video. We do not share accessibility data with insurers or employers. Hard-delete via /privacy.
Frequently asked questions
How does the app change what it suggests for accessibility needs?
It factors in the mobility, sensory, and processing needs your cell has declared. For example, a Themed Night with a long walk won't surface for a cell with a wheelchair user unless added explicitly, and Workshop promotes tactile alternatives when low vision is declared.
Do I have to disclose my accessibility status to my cell-mates?
No. "Prefer not to say" is a real, equal option, and many adults keep accessibility status private. The platform never lists you as needing accommodation without your own declaration.
What will a sitter or invited teacher see?
The brief surfaces the cell's declared accommodations in plain language — the practical adaptation, not the underlying medical reason. You can override what's shared on each brief.
Can ConKarma request accommodations for me from outside services?
No. It's not an accommodation-request system on your behalf — you remain in charge of any external requests. It's also not a medical device or clinical assessment tool, and it never shares accessibility data with insurers or employers.
